About the Practice

Counseling rooted in grace

Charis Counseling was founded on a simple belief: that every person deserves a space where they feel truly seen, heard, and supported — without judgment, without rush.

Dr. Grace Chew-Graham

Clinical Psychologist, Psy.D.  ·  License #24701  ·  Expert Witness

Dr. Grace Chew-Graham has been walking alongside individuals, couples, and families for over three decades — since 1992. Her calling is rooted in a deep Christian faith and a genuine love for people, expressed through compassion, practicality, and understanding.

Dr. Graham holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, Dallas Theological Seminary, and George Fox University. She is also a recognized expert witness, bringing professional credibility and careful discernment to complex cases when needed.

Her life experience enriches her practice in profound ways. As a wife, mother of seven — including four stepchildren, one adopted daughter, and two biological children in college — Dr. Graham brings firsthand understanding of blended family dynamics, adoption, and parenting children with special needs. She meets every family with the wisdom of someone who has lived it.

Those who know Dr. Graham describe her as genuine, nurturing, and effective — someone who communicates and teaches with clarity, and cares with her whole heart. She considers herself a blessed soul: her husband trusts her, her children respect her, and her friends love her. That same spirit of grace and gratitude is what she brings to every session.

Our Philosophy

What we believe about healing

"Healing is not a destination — it's a direction. And no one should have to walk it alone."

Grace

Charis means grace — and it shapes everything we do. We believe every person deserves to be met with compassion, without judgment, exactly as they are.

Presence

Healing happens in relationship. We show up fully — attentive, unhurried, and genuinely invested in your wellbeing.

Collaboration

You are the expert on your own life. We walk alongside you, offering tools and perspective — never prescribing a path that isn't yours.

Wholeness

We care about the whole person — mind, body, relationships, and story. Our work together honors every dimension of who you are.

Our Approach

How we work together

Every person who walks through our door — or joins us virtually — is met with genuine curiosity and care. We don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. We believe in you.

Sessions are 50 minutes and held weekly or bi-weekly, depending on your needs. We offer in-person appointments at our West Plano office.

The first session is always a conversation — a chance to get to know each other, explore what brings you in, and decide together if we're a good fit. There's no pressure, and no commitment required.
